So it's been awhile but hi guys! I hope you guys are doing well and staying creative! I'm trying to but I'm sure, as you may know, life gets in the way and makes it hard to be inspired and stay up to date. However! I managed to squeeze out a mini collection.. LOL more like a micro mini collection that took me way too long to finish but here it is, my Mini Doll Collection! And no, it is not made for dolls. I gave her her name because the pieces within the collection felt very classic. Including details and style lines inspired by fashion by the 1950s, while wearing each of these pieces I felt very feminine and dressed up. I wanted to emphasize the collars on these pieces while keeping the designs and fabric choices simple, complimentary and for some contrasting, creating classic elegant looks for this upcoming fall/winter.
I also managed to document some of the construction process for a few of the pieces for a behind the scenes look just as a way to connect with some fellow sewers out there! In a perfect world, I would have gotten some of the construction process for each one of the pieces, however life got in the way 🙃. With that being said, if any of you amazing creatives have any questions about any of the pieces, please feel free to shoot me an email!
Im not sure if it's the overlapping split, the structured overlapping collar or the color itself but this look is by far my favorite look. I call her my cilantro mood ☺️ and Im obsessed with her! Sleek design, simple elegant style lines with a collar that makes definitely makes a statement! The perfect full length modest dress for any formal event this fall/winter. While wearing her, I felt unstoppable! A force of nature, you can take her or leave her, she's not for everyone, but you're for sure going to notice when she's arrived, hence my cilantro mood!
Ok I love all of these pieces but there was something effortlessly classic about this one. I wanted to include a round exaggerated collar for a softer look to accompany a softer fabric. The fabric is so fluid, it makes wearing it exceedingly easy while feeling completely feminine and like a well put together woman from the 1950s. Of all the pieces, I'd have to say this one is the one that could be transformed from your mid week daytime look to your evening dinner attire.
This look is for sure a fan favorite! This was the first piece I started making from the collection! It actually started with me trying to decide what I should do with the fabric I wore as my veil from my wedding 🙃😂. Yup that's right, left over fabric from a wedding and marriage that is years behind me! But do I ever get rid of the fabric, as a true seamstress, the answer to that is no! Anyway! For this look I was focusing on the pleats and the buttonholes 😭😭. Ughhhhh The BUTTONHOLES!!! They are my favorite part! I had them embroidered and I wanted to incorporate them within all of the designs however, life! But I'm obsessed! Little secret, I ended up making them too small 🙃🙃 so I had to sew in a button small enough to fit within the hole, permanently and sew a snap on the inside to keep the cuffs closed! For this piece I did manage to get some photos of the construction process. So enjoy! Email me if you have any questions!
The last look has the most amount of detail. I love the color to fabric contrast and the structure of this piece. Its still giving 1950s woman, but a woman who is elegant, strong and feminine. While considering the design I wanted the front peplum to compliment the the exaggerated collar with having them both overlap in the same direction. I think that's kinda my thing! included is some of the construction process for this piece as well! Feel free to email me if you have any questions! 🤎🤎🤎
